Church leaders must do more than nod in agreement that the redemption of the fatherless is important. They must lead the church to own its biblical responsibility to redeem the fatherless.
Every day 24,000 children are in foster care for reasons ranging from neglect, to abuse, to abandonment and other forms of child maltreatment. Their desperation is our motivation. They need safe and nurturing families to begin their healing journeys. They need permanency. They need hope.
Best estimates indicate there are only 8000 or so Ohio foster families to care for them. Nonetheless, with over 100 Christians for every foster child, the local church can recruit, train and support a foster family within a caring and supportive small ministry. |
God’s Word emphasizes the significance of caring for orphans. In Ohio, the abused and neglected children who enter the foster care system are our state's “orphans.” We are joining with churches throughout Ohio to help support but one family to become a newly licensed foster home and accept a child in desperate need of safety, well-being and permanency.
We exist to make it easy for small and large churches, alike, to make a world of difference in the life of a traumatized child. |
